• The White Lion is a discreet feline tucked away in the village of Childer Thornton, itself a discreet Wirral village along the main Chester road, the A41. It’s an authentic old-style pub which hasn’t been gutted by plastic interior designers. Camra-friendly with a fine range of real ales it serves good pub grub at reasonable prices. The clientele is mainly in the 30-plus range aptly looked after by welcoming owners and staff in a convivial atmosphere. With bar, lounge and snugs this nook and quarry establishment is one of a dying breed in which you can sup a few beers and chat with family, friends and locals. A large car park and beer garden makes the pub both automobile and child friendly, though you won’t get any of the latter running around screaming and shouting at night. If you see my sister, say hello.
