• Went to the White Horse for a Sunday meal with my son on his birthday. The service was slow - a massive wait between startes and mains. I ordered the "HOME-MADE WEST COUNTRY BEEF BURGER, gherkin, mustard mayo, Emmental cheese, relish & frites £11.95" The burger was over-cooked and completely dry so I returned it. The waiter came back to the table and said the cook could only cook it like that for health and safety reasons. (!!!???) I don't accept this if it is indeed a home-made burger. Frites were pretty poor and pre-salted. Two other people at our table had the same burger and didn't finish them because they were so dry and tasteless. The dressing was poor also - the ingredients looked as if it they had been left on the kitchen window sill for a couple of days. Not very impressive if something like a burger can be so poorly cooked and presented. Waiting staff changed throughout - not good.
