  • 1 star reviewWhy pay £110 to be told you have an electrical problem when you have called them out for that very reason? The ad in Thomson's Local Directory claims a fast and efficient service but I experienced a litany of cancelled appointments and this was a very stressful waste of time when I could have got someone more local and indeed EFFICIENT in a quarter of the time!

  • 1 star reviewAbsolutely shocking Company. Three call outs to fix a leaking tap at an extortionate price. The second time they did not turn up and of course I had already paid. After persistently ringing them and finally getting a reply, I was told that the plumber was delayed and would be there between 9-10pm!! Not acceptable. The plumber was nearly 2 hours late on the 3rd visit and wanted to charge me for a problem that he should have fixed on the first visit. DO NOT USE. There are much better and cheaper plumbers out there.

  • 1 star reviewI too would give this company 0 stars if I could as I also had a terrible experience with this company. I had a problem with my combi boiler. They sent 2 plumbers over to my flat at a cost of over £200. Neither plumber properly diagnosed the problem and I was left £200 out of pocket with no hot water or heating for a week until I got a plumber from another company to my flat, who diagnosed the problem and sorted it out at a fraction of the cost. The service this company provides is over-priced and incompenent. Call them at your peril!

  • 1 star reviewIf I could give this company no stars I would! I was taken in by their professional looking website and efficient booking system without doing my research on them (which is unusual for me!). I told the person on the phone what needed doing, there was a leak under the toilet, the bath needed re-sealing, I needed a new immersion heater element. The response was "no problem that won't take longer than an hour to do" . The plumber turned up 4 hours late not having a clue what he had come to look stand spent 2.5 hours to fit a small bit of pipe on the toilet to stop the leak and did a shoddy job of sealing the bath which I probably could have done neater myself. He spent a lot of time of the phone chatting to people while he was there which probably took up a lot of the time. Given how long he had taken to do such a straightforward job I didn't even let him look at the immersion and just wanted him out as quickly as possible as they charge by the hour. When I questioned why it taken so much longer than the man told me on the phone, the plumber told me "They always tell everyone jobs will only take an hour as statistically most jobs do" . So clearly the bookings people have no idea about plumbing ( just like the plumbers they employ!). Please save yourself some time and money and don't use these people. I really think this company should be shut down as they don't have a clue what they are doing. Also worth mentioning, after booking I got a text message from them under the name "RIGHTIO" so I believe they also trade under this name. As for the person from the call centre who said they disagreed with the comments, nobody is saying every single person in the call centre is rude and useless but based on the reviews I think it's fair to say a good few of them must be! If it was just down to "ungrateful" customers as you stated in your review then other companies then other similar trade companies would also have bad reviews which it not the case!!!

  • 5 star reviewI work for Tradetek in the customer services and i am discusted that our customers are talking about us like this, we pride ourselves with customer service and are a big national company who help our customers in every way possible. we do not just want your money we want to help you with your home emergencys, depending on the area you live we may not always get to you on the time we say but ALWAYS make sure we call you to let you know of any delays. our prices are quite high but our work shows for it. "Call centre staff were very rude and unhelpful" I'd love to know who you spoke to! as far as im concerned we speak to all our customers with respect and help them in every way we can. and for pushy sales people thats a lie, we just like to get our work in and keep our engineers busy. absolutley discusted by these comments, just goes to show how arrogant and ungreatful our customers are aswel!!!

  • 1 star reviewDo not deal with this company. Once you've accepted the quote & go ahead with the work, they will then ask you to put down a deposit. Not long after they phone up to say replacement parts have to order from the Manufacture, hence there is price difference from your original quotation. Believe or not, mine was £ 200 difference.if you decided to cancel the order, you will still need to pay that so called diagnostic fee,90+vat. Don't think they can sort out your problem straight away, they are only acting as an agent. Have a look at their website under recruitment, you will then have a clearer picture on how they advertise to attract engineers to sign up with them. So beware!

  • 1 star reviewI bought an electric shower plus installation from tradetek ltd. at a cost of £ 118.80 for diagnostic (I called on friday and they went on week end without autorization and they charged an higher fee) plus £ 214.80 for installation and shower, After approximately 4 months The shower doesn’t make warm/hot water. I called many times and sent emails and FAX since 9th Dicember 2013 to arrange a repair or replacement under warranty. They always tried to redirect the call to someone else then the line dropped many times. They said they would contact the flat occupier and fixe the shower under warranty, once they spoke to the tenant they said she was suppose to pay for replace the shower. Then I called them again on phone they told me they don't guarantee the item for longer than 3 months. I know the warranty is suppose to be for 2 years, this issue is providing serious damage to the tenant’s family which has only one bathroom and they can’t take warm shower.

Thye are obviously disputing this. Absolutely awful company to deal with, poor customer service, rude and arrogant. Will never use again!

  • 1 star reviewI had to change a radiator before having a new floor laid. I bought the radiator myself. The plumber arrived quickly but did not have the necessary connecting parts - I had to go and buy them myself. The job took just over an hour but I had to pay for two hours at a rate of over £85 per hour, plus VAT. They did not include VAT in the quote! When I put the central heating on for the first time, every joint leaked, damaging my new floor. They declined to rectify, saying it was out of guarantee. So: Unprepared, bad job, very expensive.I cannot recommend these people.

  • 1 star reviewAwful company, awful customer service. They advertise as local plumbers with no call out fee and no charge until work done.Called about a leak in my shower which they confirmed but their 'engineer' said they'd need 5 hours to resolve but couldn't guarantee his work as he'd never worked on a steam shower.Charged me £74 for a 5 minute confirmation of what I had initially called out for! You're better off using a local reputable plumber.

  • 1 star reviewBad service. First time I used them it was fine. Second time the call centre gave us times 10-11am 2-3pm no show for two days. Last day they the guy would come at 10am. At 10.30 they rang to say he would come later and I refused. They then lied to say they had rung me that morning at 8.30 to confirm the 10am start when they didn't ring at all. Don't trust them. Don't use them

  • 1 star reviewI would award no stars if I could - probably the worst service I have ever had in my life. They advertise online as local plumbers, targeting various towns and cities, but they are like an agency and only display their name in the small print at the bottom of the webpage. They were hired to replace a toilet cistern and after paying over £100 for them to look at it and £50 up front for the new part, we are still left a month later without a flushing toilet with a 15 month old baby in the house. A litany of excuses and incompetence and now silence when I've asked for a refund.

  • 1 star reviewOne year old boiler which worked perfectly. Arranged its first service and was left without hot water and boiler making a strange noise. Took 3 days to come back and rectify issue. Call centre staff were very rude and unhelpful without any care for the customer. Companies like this give tradesmen a bad name. Do not go near... They are pushy sales people who do not deserve the business. Find a local reputable plumber!!

  • 1 star reviewcontacted tradetek to remedy a leaking boiler. i should point out the boiler was functioning fully, hot water and heating, but leaking. engineer arrived, charged me over £250 to fix and left me with a boiler that did not leak BUT did not give me any hot water either. the engineer stated it would cost another £100 plus to get the water back on. to be fair he was polite but obviously did not care i had no hot water. the part he wished to replace costs £8, he wanted over £25 for it. used another company, remedial worked carried out for £50, less than half of the tradetek quote. would i use them again? if the ice age arrived and my boiler was faulty i would rather take a 3 year course on boiler repair than ask tradetek to come out. in my humble opinion they overcharge on their prices and under perform in customer care.

  • 1 star reviewI used TradeTek to fix my boiler. after over 3 hours the fault was still not resolved. The engineer was uneducated and had to ring the manufacturer for advise. He nipped out to get a part, charged me £168 for the part (i've now learned this retails for £78) and then still told me this had not resolved the issue. Over all the bill was £522 and the problem was not resolved. In fact after the engineer had visited further problems became apparent including the radiators not getting hot enough and a buzzing sound coming from the circuit board. Avoid unless you want expense and frustration!

  • 1 star reviewI have never received such DISGRACEFUL service from any service provider. I had a burst pipe on Monday (late in the evening) and an incompetent engineer (from DEP Northeast, Hartlepool) arrived who and upon looking at the job suggested that he would come back the following day as it was too late at night - assured that I would not be charged for the call out. Came the following morning, ripped open the ceiling (took him 10 minutes) and as he did not have a part, left site for 45 minutes. On his return, he fixed the pipe (20 minutes). He then charged me over £300/- for 2 hours + part. When questions he said, the customer is liable to pay for the time when engineer has to go and get parts. Later that evening, the same pipe started leaking again and TRADETEK demanded a further charge for the engineer to come out and fix the problem when this was covered under the 100 day guarantee. TradeTEK did not even bother to help .. just provided me with the email address for customer relations. NEVER use tradetek and the incompetent plumber from DEP Northeast, in Hartlepool.
