• They were our landlord for 3 years as we lived on Egerton Gardens. We paid rent on time, got on very well with our neighbours, and were no trouble. When I was 7 months pregnant, they informed us that instead of raising our rent according to RPI, they were raising it by 70%- yes that's not a typo- that's a 70 seventy percent rent increase from one year to the next. They said they didn't care we had been good tenants, that I was pregnant and it would be hard for us to move (we think they raised it like that while I was pregnant because they thought we were trapped there and would have to pay it). For the 70 percent increase, they refused to replace the 25 year old carpeting, paints walls or clean the curtains which hadn't even been cleaned when we moved in. We found out later from a local estate agent, that they had done the exact same thing to 4 other young families on our street. In other countries, they refer to this type of practice as "slum lording". If you take one of their properties, renter beware, they only care about their own balance sheet and have no sense of loyalty to existing tenants or a morally/ethically run business. They displaced 5 families with small children over a 2 month period in the summer of 2011. Shocking.
