  • 5 star reviewCongratulations to Alli & Gregg on delivering a fantastic evening to our party of 25 this week. The food was superb and the service outstanding - we will all be back!

  • 5 star reviewI have visited the Ship often over the last 6 months and find the first 2 reviews on here not reflective of the Ship Inn in any way... From the warm welcome, not just from Alli but Dom behind the bar and Kerry helping Alli to deliver great service the evening is always a pleasure from start to finish! I visited last weekend and the pub was really busy. We ordered the Falmouth Bay Crab (locally sourced) to start. It was served with Greg's homemade bread...heaven!!! Main course was Confit Duck and Greg's shoulder of lamb - yes on hot plates!! Fresh veg served piping hot - glorious....We were left to enjoy our mains with none of the rush we have seen in other restaurants looking for a high turn over of bums on seats...and then to dessert.....Hot Chocolate souffle for him and homemade lemon and almond praline icecream was to die for!!!! And it can only add to the pleasure to have the bill - how can you beat this place anywhere in Cornwall - 3 courses of food to die for locally sourced for £20 a head!!! We have eaten in many fantastic restaurants but nothing can beat the Ship, for great food, great service in a fantastic environmental for fantastic value for money!!!! They have my vote every time and we cannot wait to return!!!

  • 5 star reviewWe visited the Ship after last tasting Greg's food at Trelowarren, and again was blown away by his great food and the great service from his wife Ali. Attention to detail on both fronts as always second to none. My partner had the monkfish niscose (and yes it was served cold as it should be - it is a salad....) and I again had Greg's gorgeous twice baked souffle - well worth the 4 hour drive to get to Cornwall and was everything we remember! Main course was sirloin steak for me cooked to perfection as always and locally caught Helford River fish and chips with homemade tartar sauce for my better half - each dish cooked to perfection The service was perfect in it's timing - time to browse the menu, and each course was delivered without delay. In summary great locally sourced food, cooked to perfection, with a 100% focus on great service - have recommended to all we know knowing they will not be disappointed when they visit

  • 1 star reviewWe totally agree with the other poor review. We had a meal here on the 13th April 2012 and things have not improved. The plates and food were both cold the monkfish was in extremely small portion. The veg also although warmer, were in very small portions i.e. one small spoonful each. Would not recommend and will not be returning.
