• I'm amazed at the negative reviews listed because I have never had this experience at the Quilt Room. All the staff are quilters and willing and able to share their knowledge and advice freely. My first visit was as a novice and I was nursed through fabric choices and quilt construction over several visits. At no time did I feel that the staff were unhelpful or dismissive. The atmosphere is friendly. I am a repeat customer and love visiting this shop. Perhaps the negative reviews are a reflection of the reviewers attitude rather than the Quilt Room's?

• I took my first quilting class at The Quilt Room and now I'm hooked. I love the fact that when I try to put together fabrics, the staff are so helpful and always find just the right piece among all the fabrics. There is aLways something new to look at and get excited about. ....................

• I read the reviews and nearly did not go to the store. I had bought a book while on holiday in Maine. I was visiting from Canada and so wanted to go to the store. I was served by a delightful and very helpful person. It was a great experience.

• For a specialist store the staff are some of the most unaccommodating I have ever come across. I bought a complete kit which was not cheap and I also got the "is that all" attitude. Trying to make small talk was pointless it take the money and get out. I have since found after reading and re-reading the instructions to the kit that there is an error that leaves you with more cut fratbric than you needed, but I'm afraid to point this out for fear of being blacklisted should I need to go back. However, thinking about the lack of customer service, I'll probably go elsewhere. Such a shame as I enjoy quilting but I refuse to be made to feel a complete amateur.

• I am new to quilting and travelled half a hour to the shop. I had purchased the jelly roll book online and I was so excited to go to the actual authors shop. So excited in fact I went on my birthday as a treat !! I was ready to buy lots of kit and some rolls to treat myself. I was so disappointed :-(. I found the staff to be rude and dismissive and really unwelcoming. I am fairly young and I wonder if it's more of a shop that caters to people already into quilting. I visited again a few weeks later to give it another go - I had the same experience. I will never visit again. I can get what I need elsewhere. Not worth the trip.

• So glad I'm not the only one who sometimes feels 5 inches tall when leaving the Quilt Room! Don't know if it's because they are specialist suppliers so they think they are better than most or if its just down to their lack of people skills. All I can say is, if I want anything from there I order on line to save myself the aggro. The Fluffatorium down the road is full of really nice people who are only too glad to help a complete novice - perhaps the Quilt Room should take note!

• Wow! What's amazing collection of fabric and quilting equipment. That said, the staff were a bit stand-offish - I only went to have a look and bought a bunch of fat quarters but got the distinct impression of "is that all?" Oh well I guess we're allowed to have an off day!

• A real aladdins cave of fabrics and quilting paraphernalia to please even the most experienced quilter. However, the help from staff can vary - I am a regular visitor, and although I know how to quilt, sometimes I find if I need to ask a question, I can leave feeling intimidated.
