  • 1 star reviewThe landlord has in 12 months lowered the tone of the neighbourhood, killed the trees in the car park, placed an industrial container in the car park. Plays music at ridiculous decibels and has no consideration for any other residents in Gorse Covert. I live on a road furthest away from the Poacher and I can hear the words!! The last time I went in there were dogs in the pub and that put me off ordering food. We all hoped a new landlord would improve The Poacher but how wrong we were.

  • 5 star reviewSince Martin took over the pub last year, it has been transformed. It's now a place you look forward to returning to! Well done Martin and your staff. At last a local worth drinking in

  • 4 star reviewThis pub was going down hill fast before being saved by the new owner, Martin, last year. It was cold, dirty, frequently ran out of some drinks and the food was akin to microwaved dog food and was too expensive no matter how cheap it was priced. Martin has transformed it into a warm and inviting local which is well rum, well decorated and now serves top quality food. The evidence of the improvements is noticeable in the new faces from the estate who now frequent the pub giving a well balanced slice of the neighbourhood in attendance rather than just a hardcore of "cronies". Well done Martin - keep it up!

  • 1 star reviewThe poacher used to be a lovely family friendly pub with affordable food and drinks situated in an area full of families, however the new owner has made this pub into an overpriced establishment where families are not made to feel welcome. There is no family seating area, so if you want to sit in a cold conservatory with older boys kicking footballs at the windows making it seem very unsafe, and eat an expensive meal and be made to feel very unwelcome by the "regulars" then this is the pub to come to! I would rather get a bus or walk an hour to much better family friendly pubs than spend my time and money here! Such a shame for the area that they have ruined the local pub! Unfortunately I am giving it one star for the new decor!

  • 3 star reviewNot been in for years, it has been refurbished, but no drinks price list on wall in breach of regulations, they tried to over charged on double top shelf a few times. They have started doing food, tasty but expensive. I will continue to use other pubs in the area. But if you have not been in for a while might be worth popping in.

  • 2 star reviewOK if you don't mind kids running about all night, Music so loud that your ears bleed. It's a dump which is a shame because it used to be a nice place to drink
