• Have drank in the maidens for years, attended plenty of functions. Always a good night. Though......had sons engagement last night night and was really disappointed to say the least and felt really let down.... two bar staff of for an engagement party for 150 people. Queues horrendous, worker collecting glasses oppose to serving. Suggested I collect glasses to assist. People attending party going through to bar to get served then coming back through, this had potential risk, carrying glass outside, people even went to shops and stood a door with the drink. Everyone enjoyed themselves however bitterly complained about the service.. queues where apparent all night. Staff did there best. Head barmaid (Ashley or Sharon) still insisted her staff collected glasses as it's there job......come on....surely priority is to serve customers, especially when someone offered to collect glasses. Furthermore more the cleanliness of the place, standard has considerable dropped,,yeah yeah we know no it due for refurbishment (has been for years)but when your providing a function suite you expect a standard. I'm sure profit was well made, as this is a close proximity to most of our family and usually be out first port of call for function....... not now..... throughly let down
