• We stayed one night in Great Dunmow last year to catch an early morning flight from Stansted and found there is little choice of reasonably priced places to eat in the evening, so chose this restaurant as a last resort. We found food to be OK, but a bit pricey for what we needed and the place lacked atmosphere. We stayed in Great Dunmow again this year for the same reason and found the same thing, so having read the menu displayed outside and seeing a spare table inside we tried to enter the restaurant, only to be confronted by the Manager (we assume) who said that it was closed for a private function (not mentioned on any notices on the door) and rudely slammed the door in our faces while the waiter/barman laughed at us from behind the bar. Went up the road to a reasonable Chinese restaurant and certainly won’t consider visiting this place again.
