• Nice ambiance, a range of draught beers ( no ciders except Strongbow...aaagh!) and lovely, friendly staff. The menu was good, with locally sourced food wherever possible. The vegetarian menu was limited (the ubiquitous goats' cheese and cherry tomato tart!) and my husband ended up having a tiny portion of hake with 3 pieces of asparagus and a few small potatoes. It was expensive for what it was and the fish was overcooked.My daughter and I had duck, cooked perfectly and with a delicious sauce and some excellent sweet beetroot chunks. We had substituted new potatoes for the duck fat roasted ones on the menu and these were also perfectly cooked. Her boyfriend's fish, chips and mushy peas went down well, though I thought the batter was terribly greasy.We all thought that charging £3.50 extra for one portion of veg was taking the mickey and I wouldn't go back for this reason. It smacks of ripping people off and I think a good portion and range of veg should be included in a meal. Our main courses were £12ish, which could have included the price of a carrot or a courgette!
