• My partner and I have visited this establishment before and felt it was a suitable option to take our friend for Sunday lunch. The place has spectacular views across the vale beneath Ilkley moor which we wanted to show her. However, on settling in to order our food and drinks we received a distinctly cold reception from the landlord who was bordering on sarcastic with how we should place our food and drinks order. Having placed our orders and getting our drinks we were very disappointed with the quality of the wine and asked if it could be changed. The response from the landlord was totally unapologetic as he stared back at us in disbelief stating there was nothing wrong with it as it came out of a box and could not be spoiled. We had to ask again if it could be changed which it was but extremely begrudgingly. We were invited to buy a bottle which was more than we wanted and so we decided to go for something different. However, with wine not an option my partner and our friend needed to decide on what they wanted which elicited a passing comment from the landlord to his wife, "see they don't even know what they want". We did consider leaving at this point but decided as we had ordered food to stay for our meals. The food was good and the girls that waited on us were polite and friendly however the whole experience was ruined by the landlords attitude. Further passing comments when my partner wanted to check the bill prior to paying to make sure that we had not been charged for the wasted wine, "Oh, I thought you would do that". Having told friends about this place before we will make sure to let them know about this experience and have vowed we won't return to be treated like that again.
