• Second visit in 6 months, the first one we had awful food, thought we'd give the place another go...big mistake. Although the staff are friendly and welcoming, the food, which was cooked by an apparently new chef was below the standard of a fairground burger van. Besides being lukewarm or cold, the steak was 'zapped' when we asked for it to be cooked a little more; the result was the complete removal of any meaty taste, replaced with a watery flavour. The burger was flat as a pancake and tasted like the cheap stuff you get in a Rustlers microwave burger, cooked on the outside, cold on the inside. Clearly frozen but the boss was adamant it came fresh from a local butcher. No apology, food removed swiftly once we'd vacated the table and we were still expected to pay for our drinks, which should have been the least they should have done for us. Avoid if you're looking for nice food- it's a lovely pub but definitely not a place to go out for a nice meal...
