• I am quite new to Dibden Purlieu and require the post office daily as I am online retailer. To begin with, I wasn't greeted very warmly by the staff at the branch. There was a Daily questioning process about what was in my parcels - (I thought this problem would be resolved by explaining to the staff I was aware what items were on the prohibited list and I was selling toys and gift items which were allowable to be carried by the network) This became an uphill battle to overcome this but we finally got there. The owner seemed quite friendly at first but became more pedantic and patronising about how to pack and label parcels. His daughter who also works at the post office seems hard of hearing and when I question how she has labeled a parcel she shrugs and suggests I never asked for “recorded” delivery when infact I could not have been clearer about what I was purchasing. This ritual of being accused of not being clear almost became a daily occurrence. She also has not grasped the words "please" or "thank you". Historically, post offices have been the hub of the community and a friendly place to go – I cannot say this post office gives much regard to its customers. When I finally brought my concerns up with the manager he became very defensive and dismissive. I explained I was the customer and perhaps he should listen to my suggestions, he shrugged me off and commenced speaking bengali or Gurarati to his daughter, clearly not impressed about his level of service being challenged. One good thing I will say about this post office is a very friendly and efficient gentleman works there but unfortunately he only works part time and is retiring in March. He is a credit to any post office. The attitude of the management of this post office seems to be “we are the only post offce in the area, so accept how we do things around here” The daughter made it very clear I would not want to travel another mile up the road to the next post office – BUT guess what I already have and they are so much more friendly and polite. Maybe they will appreciate the £12,000 of business I give the post office each year.
