• How The Codfather in Southampton is nominated I really don't know. Went in there today and when we got a piece of cod home it was raw in the middle and stone cold. The batter was totally uncooked Inside. I was working so was not able to take it back and threw it out. I decided to give them a call, bearing in mind my family and my sisters family use this and their other shop on a regular basis. I was told that there was no way the fish was undercooked as the person on the phone was the one who cooked it, they had no other complaints about their fish. I was ultimately called a liar. The price they charge you is high and their customer service stinks. They have now lost two families who use them every week and we will be frequenting the chip shop in Thornhill from now on which is far superior and a lot cheaper. As they own the two shops in Hedge End and the one in West End if you live in this area you need to travel a little but it is worth it for better quality and value. So as for my thumbs up for being a 2014 nominee is a HUGE thumbs down!!!!!! Giving it one star because won't accept zero!

• Been going there for years and it's been fine until recently. I think they've got a new policy of not having food waiting, so be prepared to wait as my last three visits have been long waits. Tonight 20 mins for a bag of chips. Plenty of staff more interested in goofing around while us 10 customers wait! Not what you want when you are on route home from work!
