  • 4 star reviewDear Mr Holding Thank you very much for your email, the contents of which I note with care and a degree of concern. I am very sorry to learn that your recent experiences with Chamberlain Music have not been positive. My colleague Tim is currently on holiday for a week, and so I have not been able to talk to him about this situation yet. However, there is absolutely no excuse that I can offer when a customer feels that they have been addressed in a blasé and unhelpful manner. I can only offer you my sincerest apologies. Feedback, and particularly negative feedback, is invaluable when it comes to staff training, so I thank you for the candid comments. You can be certain that they will be put to good use in the coming days! Regarding a claim against Royal Mail, it is not my department, but I believe that claims cannot be made for lost items until 10 working days have passed, and so a claim may not have been made yet, but this should happen next week at some point. When one sends items by Royal Mail using a non-trackable service, it is of course impossible to prove to them what has gone where and on what date. It is true that we generally only claim against the Royal Mail if an item has gone astray and it has been sent using the ‘Speical Delivery’ or ‘Signed For’ services. I would like to apologise to you again for the poor service you have received from us. I know that the experience you have endured thus far cannot be undone, but I would like to assure you that we are committed to improve constantly. To that end, I hope that you will consider using us again in the future. If so, I would like you to contact me directly either by email, or to my direct line where I can guarantee my personal attention to your requirements. Thank you once again, Yours sincerely David McClean

  • 1 star reviewI ordered a treble Yamaha recorder and Sopranino - Caroline took the order and promised next day free delivery. Eight days later it still had not arrived. On enquiring 'Tim' said it had been 'lost' by Royal Mail - and would send another. I got a mysterious email saying that the Sopranino was being sent - but not the Treble Recorder. Yet another phone call (of three) and Tim said they couldn't find the 'one in stock' so would have to wait for a delivery in the next 'two or three days'. So I changed the order to an Ebony Yamaha Recorder - which he said they had (one) in stock. He promised to phone back to confirm one way or the other as to whether it would be sent – he had to 'find' it. He didn't phone back. At 16:30 when I phoned he said it was packaged and ready for despatch. He was completely oblivious to having promised to keep me updated by phone. When will it arrive? I asked. "Tomorrow" he said. We will see. He also confirmed when asked "Is it still possible that the other one will arrive?" - He said "Yes". I DO live in a dodgy area of London - but have never had any Royal Mail stuff go astray. I don't believe it was ever sent - I will update this review in the unlikely event it arrives. I think it was just pure inefficiency. A company is only as good as its frontline staff - and Tim is useless. I will be using Chappell in future. CRWH
