• We recently had Cannons out to our multiple occupancy building to carry out our 6 monthly safely check on our Fire Alarm Console and all heat sensors in each flat. I was in when our flat needed checking others had just left a key but boy am I glad I was there, Jeff from Cannons walked into one of the main bedrooms and left completely missing one of the smoke sensors, I also noticed he wasn't going to check the heat sensor in the kitchen, when I quizzed him on this he said in a rather muddled manner that they do these on rotation ( which I found extremely hard to believe since he wasn't taking any written records and this was the first test we had ever had ) and they would be checked next time, since the safely of my life and children doesn't exist on rotation I insisted he check it now but interestingly he had forgotten his testing equipment and asked for a hair dryer; which I supplied. After checking the heat sensor he went to leave and I asked him if he was going to re-check all the other flats and he said this was the only one, I found this very hard to believe and said but surly they all have the same installation as this flat and he said "oh yes apart from the one heat sensor" and changed his mind ( he had just lied and been caught out ) I had to let him borrow the hair dryer so he could test the other flats…as he was leaving I asked him what he normally uses and he said a hair dryer!! I have to say I was extremely shocked and disappointed by Cannons, for something as important as this I would expect 100% professionalism instead I got…..well I'll let you make your mind up on that.
